The author, one of three brothers, traveled through an area of British controlled Central Asia that lay east of Simla. One of the earliest works on high altitude travel (although they never made it through to Tibet). It includes information on history, geography, tribes, languages etc. A truly beautiful copy - original blindstamped cloth showing almost no wear. Text uncut. Someone opened the book to sign their name and never opened the book again. One minute spot on outer rear hinge where cloth is thin. Housed in an opened ended silk slipcase with leather corners and edges, gilt ruled. VG+-Nr Fine. Item #1247
