This copy has the plates bound in with each part as issued. Original paper wrapper from Part I bound in at rear. Plate L (50) is the EXTRA large colored folding map. This copy also contains both prefaces. The purpose of this important work was to explore the high peaks and principal mountain ranges of Asia, the rivers of the Himalayas and Tibet and the geology of the Himalayas. Internally vg++. Bound in contemporary leather with marbled boards. Deco end papers. Inside front board has glued inside a large colored folding map of Asia (not part of the original book) showing the Chinese Empire and the Himalayas. On the bottom of the spine is a wax seal of (?) former owner. Bottom edges of boards show wear of paper covering and leather corners show some wear as well but they are square and not bumped/ Tiny closed (almost imperceptible tear) front free end paper).
