Edition limited to only 250 numbered copies. Large thick folio. Printed on deckle edged paper. Bound half black lather, raised bands on spine, gilt titles, marbled end papers. Pull out maps and illustrations in custom made case in front of volume one. The lengthy index was compiled by the noted authority on Chinese Turkestan, DC Boulger. In 1906 Baddeley made the first of several long journeys to and through Russia. For the next 10 years compiled copious notes, much from previously unavailable sources, on the histories of these three fascinating countries. Then for three more years he worked on compiling the documents into what has become known since that time as a cornerstone work on the history and historical geography of Russia, Mongolia and China. The profusion of splendid illustrations and maps adds to the enjoyment of this well written work which contains much fascinating information found in no other volume ever compiled.
