Cleveland OH: Arthur Clark, 1910. First. Hardcover. of Amasa Stone Mather June 1907 to Dec 1908. Two volumes 458 & 436 pp, profuse ill. Vol one is about travel and some sport in Asia. Vol 2 relates a long (three month) safari in Kenya. He bagged most of the big five as well as other game along the way. He seemed to hunt at a popular time because he met other hunters, both English and German,. Also contains a list of the game regultations at the time. Mather was a friend of Theodore Roosevelt, who asked Mather's opinion before his own hunt two years later. He also met Leslie Tarlton during his hunting trip. RARE. A better than near fine set, the only flaws being a bump on lower front corner of one volume and endpaper cracking but hinges firm in same volume. We do not believe even 75 sets exist todayVG+ set, inscribed by the author, front hinge weak in volume one. VG+ to near Fine. Item #5583
